Two bits of news! The Love Language and Superchunk releases...

We don't post for a while and then we come back with two in one!

Firstly, The Love Language's "Libraries" finally gets a European release. We've loved this band from the minute we first heard this record and we're thrilled to be working with them. We're working on the band's first European dates scheduled for February/March 2012 whilst the band are hard at work completing their third full length due for release later in 2012.

Secondly, we are pleased to be announcing the release of a limited 7" single of "Learned to Surf" by Superchunk, b/w brand new song "Sunny Brixton" and a cover of Neon Christ's hardcore classic "Bad Influence". This is all in celebration of the fact that they are going to be playing in London for the first time in 10 years, and will also be playing an acoustic instore at Rough Trade West on November 29. They will also be in Spain the week before - full list of dates below:

Wintersleep are back in September. End of the Road should be pretty awesome, the dude who runs it is always trying to get me to go. Supposedly there is some hotel near there where Dylan stays all the time. I bet I won't make it again this year so you will have to get a report from someone else.

Between then and now they are spending loads of time in the US including two dates with The Hold Steady which excites all three of us to no end. Maybe that will happen over here one day ?

That is David Bazan, he was in Pedro The Lion and we are going to release his first solo album !

I wouldn't normally quote the press release but let's face it, this is the reason you spend so much time writing the damn things:

"Although he has been releasing records for over ten years as Pedro The Lion, this is David Bazan's debut solo album. If you haven't heard the name before, chances are that most of your favourite artists have - you can hear David Bazan's influence throughout the music of most current American singer songwriters.

Doesn't touring look fun ? How about touring in the dead of winter during a recession ? Ha ! Let the fun begin. It's not all bad really, this is Wintersleep's first proper tour of the UK and Europe. Got the UK and Irish dates below but I have lost the Euro part so bear with me !

Oh, about that video from yesterday, it's the next single 'Oblivion' - out March 2nd and the album 'Welcome To The Night Sky' is out on Feb 16th. Don't you like the way Vimeo's controls disappear once the video is playing ? More aesthetically pleasing than Youtube.

That's Wintersleep on the cover of CMJ Magazine from a month ago. Too bad we don't have college radio, in fact I wish we had those shitty classic rock radio stations as well, everyone needs more Doobie Brothers in their lives. I found out the hard way that there are two spellings of 'Archaeologists', that's the first single off of Wintersleep's new record and it's a bitch to spell ! We are releasing it here in the UK on December 8th but, in the spirit of giving, we decided to let you guys have it for free. Just for a little while though. Do with it what you may:

Don't get too excited, that isn't the cover of a new new Wintersleep record, though maybe new new to you - ha ! It is our version of Welcome To The Night Sky. New art, bonus tracks, you know the routine.

We have been working on this for ages - finally got the details sorted out about a month ago et voila - tour dates ! There is going to be a single around these shows and I would love to stream it for you but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Played a German small city of 20,000 (40,000 when the surrounding towns are included). We played a club on their anniversary, so it was packed, and a jazz trio opened for us.
For a while there, we thought that it may have been a gay bar, but it turns out that Germans just like Dan a lot.

That Dudes / Ladyhawk UK tour is happening plus some European dates - see below. I think they are sharing a van, don't know if I want to be involved in that. Either way those shows are going to be pretty rockin'.

We were pretty pumped that some people played the record over here - Steve Lamacq, Colin Murray and NME Radio, which I have yet to listen to. People are reviewing the album though I don't really read the music press so I hope you do ! Maybe that means this is a success ?

Brain, Heart, Guitar (OFS002CD) out September 8th 2008

See that there ? That is what is professionally known as the 'packshot' though most people (including myself) would call it a record cover, even if it is CD only. Anyway, it's the same record that The Dudes released over in Canadia but we have beefed it up. New art by some guy named Steve, who I have yet to meet and Aled, who I have met. Plus a couple of extra tracks so no need to buy the Japanese import until they reissue it in those awesome mini LP style card sleeves. Oh, and we got Dan to send us the lyrics. Honestly they are genius - just listen and you'll see !

I am told they are coming over in September for shows with Ladyhawk (the ones without the 'e' on Jagjaguwar). That is going to be sweet ! Word on the street is that Tim down at the Windmill is beside himself with excitement at the prospect of seeing both bands in the same month.

I was going to try and be cool and say that you could order the record from Rough Trade but they don't have it up yet. Guess you will have to settle for Amazon or if you are looking for the online shopping equivalent of securing your poolside deck chair at the crack of dawn, you can order 'Brain,Heart,Guitar von the Dudes' from Amazon.de.
